Task 1: Design Development Planning

In this task you’ll be using our Design Development Planning template to create your own document. It relates to our section on Design development planning in healthcare. You can do this even if you are already further ahead in your own project, just fill it in as if you were starting out.

Step-by-step
  1. Create a shared version of the template that you can all work on at the same time (e.g. in Google docs). As a team, go through the template and identify all the areas for which you have information already, and where you have gaps. Do this in person.
  2. In the same meeting, assign each section to a named individual.
  3. Work individually to fill in the gaps. If this involves gathering information that will take longer than you have available for this task, then instead make a plan for how you would go about filling those gaps. If this is a real working project take more time on the task to actually follow through on those plans.
  4. Working on the shared version, add in all the information you now have into your assigned areas. Make sure you set out the information clearly, and keep in mind that it may need to be read by people who are unfamiliar with the project. Also, please note that not all the content needs to sit in the DDP. For instance, this should be a plan for risk management and does not need to contain the risk register itself.
  5. Review as a group. Is anything still missing? How would you fill in these gaps? Is each section understandable and clear?
  6. Reflect as a group on the following questions: Did anything come up that surprised you? Are there any areas that you do not have content for? Are there any areas that are not relevant for the development of your product?
